Enter your details on your own modem +
Open your internet browser.
- Enter your modem’s IP address in the address bar and press Enter. Check your modem’s userguide for your modem’s IP address or search routeripaddress.com/brands
- You’ll be prompted for your modem’s username and password. Default usernames and passwords can also be found at routeripaddress.com/brands.
- Next you will be asked to enter your Compass broadband username and password. You’ll find these details in your Compass welcome pack.
- Restart your modem. This will take a couple of minutes.
- Once the restart is complete, check that your modem has the power, ADSL and Ethernet/ USB lights on.
- Check your Local Area Connection under ‘Network Connections’. Local Area Connection should show ‘connected’. You will now have internet access.

If you are using your own modem with your Compass internet connection, you will need to configure it with the settings below.
Fibre

Vlan Tagging - Disabled IP Version: IPv4 or IPv6
MTU Size: 1492 or 1500 NAT: Enabled
ADSL
Username: customer@compassnet.co.nz

MTU: 1492 or 1500
VDSL
WAN Connection Type: PPPoE
Username: customer@compassnet.co.nz
Password: compass
Connection Type: VDSL or VDSL 2
Interface: PTM 0
VLAN ID: 10
MTU: 1492 or 1500
These will work on most modem/routers as long as the modem is not carrier locked and you have configured it correctly. The settings will also vary depending on the type of connection you have; such as ADSL, VDSL, or UFB.
