1) Router Hardware

a) Your router must have an ETHERNET WAN port.

Note: To get the most out of your Compass Fibre Broadband connection, Compass recommends a router with a gigabit Ethernet WAN port and dual band (2.4/5Ghz) and 802.11 AC1200 Wi-Fi capability or greater.


b) ADSL routers with only an ADSL Port cannot be used for Compass Fibre Broadband.

c) If you do not have your router configuration setting, call us on 0800 640 840 and we can help you with it.


2) Router WAN Settings

a) WAN / Internet Connection Type = PPPoE
b) PPP Username = <will be provided by us, when you call us>
c) PPP Password = <will be provided by us, when you call us>
d) VLAN Tagging = <leave blank>

Note: With some routers, the PPP Username and password fields cannot be left as a blank field. If this the case with your router, any text can be typed into these fields as it will be ignored by Compass as we use “Port Based” authentication instead of username/password authentication.
